Many local businesses and corporations have assisted us over the years in helping educate the public about the history and sacrifices made by the men and women of our Armed Forces. They do this through the sponsorship of special events and/or exhibitions. All sponsors are recognized in local media coverage leading up to and covering such events, in on-site advertisements during the events, on our website, and in the KIDD’s Compass museum newsletter which is distributed to our membership throughout the nation.
Some upcoming events that are still in need of sponsorship are:
“No child should ever be denied the opportunity to experience the ship for want of the ability to purchase a ticket.”
— Margaret Barnhouse
Wife of WWII KIDD crew member William T. Barnhouse
Free First Sunday is a partnership program among several downtown Baton Rouge museums that gives families an opportunity to visit local museums free of charge. Along with free, self-guided tours of both the ship and museum, there will be arts & crafts, aquatic animals, and more throughout the day. The USS KIDD Veterans Museum opens its doors to the community free of charge every first Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. “Themed ” activities take place from noon until 4:00 p.m. in the museum lobby.
Free First Sundays are made possible by corporate and foundation sponsors. Underwriters are recognized in marketing and publicity material and on signage throughout the museum.
Underwriters are also welcome to host an information table providing information or marketing to potentially 7,000 people annually.
If you would like more information on sponsorship opportunities, please contact us at 225-342-1942 or via email at info@usskidd.com
We are open 9:30am to 3:30pm Daily. Free First Sunday has been suspended until further notice.
