USCGC GRAND ISLE

Only one U.S. Coast Guard vessel has had the honor to bear the name of GRAND ISLE, an island off the southeastern coast of the State of Louisiana.

GRAND ISLE (1991 ~ Present):

USCG Cutter GRAND ISLE (WPB-1338), is a 110-ft. Island-class patrol boat. The class is a modification of a highly successful British design, with excellent range and sea keeping capabilities. The Island-class boats replaced the older 95-ft. Cape-class patrol boats and were built in the late 1980s. They are equipped with advanced electronics and navigation equipment.

As of this time, GRAND ISLE remains on active duty with the Atlantic fleet and is homeported in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
