Army Aviation Museum — Located at Fort Rucker, Alabama, this museum honors the men and women who provide close-air support to the guys on the ground and houses over 160 airplanes, helicopters, and other vertical flight aircraft.

Columbia River Maritime Museum & Lightship Columbia (WLV-604) — One of the West Coast's most respected and admired museums, this museum preserves and interprets the rich maritime heritage of the Pacific Northwest.

The Confederate Air Force — With its central headquarters located at the American Airpower Heritage Museum in Midland, Texas, the Confederate Air Force preserves--in flying condition--the world's largest collection of combat aircraft flown by the U.S. during World War II.

Fort MacArthur Museum — A coastal defense fort located in Los Angeles, California, this U.S. Army post operated between 1914 and 1974. Now a museum, it features exhibits on the Army's role in the defense of the American coastline.

Freedom Schooner Amistad — A replica of the schooner aboard which a slave revolt occurred in 1839 that led to one of the most famous Federal court cases in U.S. history.

Gunboat CSS Neuse — Raised from the muddy waters of the Neuse River in 1963, the remnants of this Confederate gunboat are on display in Kinston, North Carolina, as well as one of the largest artifact collections in existence for any one vessel of that era.

HMS Bounty — Homeported at Greenport, Long Island, this vessel was built by MGM Studios in 1960 for the major motion picture Mutiny On The Bounty, starring Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard, and Richard Harris. She is a replica of the ship on which occurred the infamous mutiny led by Fletcher Christian against his captain, Lieutenant William Bligh, in 1789.

HMS Rose — Homeported in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the tall ship HMS Rose is the world's largest active wooden sailing vessel and is a replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate that cruised the American coast during the American Revolution.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex-- Located at Cape Canaveral, Florida, this facility offers exhibits which detail the history of the United States in space, from the Mercury program to today's International Space Station. Visitors have the opportunity to come face-to-face with a real astronaut, visit nearby Kennedy Space Center, and tour the Merritt Island wildlife refuge. Lady Washington — This replica of a 1750 brig is homeported in Aberdeen, Washington, and sails regularly along the West Coast of the United States.

Lightship Portsmouth (LV-101) — Built in 1915, Lightship #101 served to aid navigators along the coastlines of Virginia and Delaware for almost 50 years. She now serves as a museum in the heart of the waterfront in Portsmouth, Virginia.

The Mariner's Museum — Located in Newport News, Virginia, this museum is recognized as one of the premier maritime museums in the United States.

The Mayflower II — Located in Plymouth, Massachusetts, this historic replica is just one of the many exhibitions at Plimoth Plantation.

The Mississippi River Museum — Located on Mud Island in Memphis, Tennessee, this museum traces the history of the Mighty Mississippi, its role in the exploration and expansion of our country through both peacetime and war and includes a one eighth mile outdoor model of the river from its headwaters at Lake Itasca, Minnesota, to its mouth at the Gulf of Mexico.

Mystic Seaport — Located in Mystic, Connecticut, this is one of the leading maritime museums in the United States, preserving and interpreting the maritime heritage of New England. It is home to the 19th century wooden whaling ship Charles W. Morgan, the last such vessel in existence.

National Archives — The National Archives are intended to be America's national record-keeper. Its mission is to ensure ready access to the essential evidence that documents the history of the United States of America.

National Maritime Center — Located on the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, Virginia, "Nauticus" features exhibits on the whole spectrum of maritime life from the oceans to the ships that sail upon them and the creatures that dwell within.

National Museum of Naval Aviation — Located in Pensacola, Flordia, this museum houses some of the most beautifully restored aircraft in the world representing Naval, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviation. From biplanes to blimps and helicopters to Harriers, it can be found here.

San Diego Maritime Museum & the Star of India — This museum is home to the world's oldest active sailing vessel, the Star of India.

Smithsonian Institute -- Founded through the efforts of James Smithson, a British scientist, as “an establishment for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men,” this is the world’s largest museum complex.
