Military Family Support Groups
Blue Star Mothers of America — Organized to unite the mothers of those who are serving or have served in the military, Blue Star Mothers was first organized in 1942 and helps to support military families while promoting patriotism.
Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana—Chapter #1 — Originally founded as Mothers of Military Servicemen & Women to aid in the support of military families with loved ones deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, this group of dedicated ladies has become the state's first chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America.
American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. — Founded in 1929, this group is composed of American mothers who lost a son or daughter in the line of duty in the Armed Forces of the United States of America or its Allies, or died as a result of injuries sustained in such service. They offer support to the families of fallen military servicemen and women, to veterans and their dependents, and promote patriotism wherever possible.
Gold Star Siblings — A support group for the brothers and sisters who have lost a sibling to war.
Gold Star Wives of America — An organization of military widows/widowers whose spouse died while on active duty or from service-connected disabilities. This military survivors organization has been serving war widows from all conflicts and service-connected disabilities since it was founded in 1945.
