Louisiana Arts & Science Museum — Housed in the old passenger terminal of the Illinois Central Railroad, this downtown museum features Egyptian mummies, beautiful artwork, a steam locomotive passenger train, and a new state-of-the-art planetarium and IMAX-type theater.
Louisiana State Library — Founded in 1925, the State Library of Louisiana serves the citizens of the state through loans of materials to local parish libraries.
Louisiana State Museum — This complex of national landmarks houses thousands of artifacts and works of art reflecting Louisiana's legacy of historic events and cultural diversity. The Museum operates five properties in the famous French Quarter of New Orleans: the Cabildo, Presbytere, 1850 House, Old U.S. Mint, and Madame John's Legacy. It also maintains the Wedell-Williams Memorial Aviation Museum in Patterson, the Old Courthouse in Natchitoches, the E.D. White Historic Site in Thibodaux, and a new state-of-the-art facility in Baton Rouge.
Louisiana State University and A&M College — Founded in 1860, LSU is the flagship university for the State of Louisiana and home to the Fighting Tigers.

The Old Arsenal Museum — A site of strategic military importance for the British, French, and Spanish in colonial times, this powder magazine is one of the few structures left of what was at one point the main defensive military post of the southwestern United States. Overlooking the Capitol Lakes near the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, this historic site is now open to the public as a museum.
The Old Governor's Mansion — Known as “The House That Huey Built” [Gov. Huey Long], this four-story mansion served as the home for Louisiana’s governors from 1929 to 1963 and is built along similar lines to those of the White House in Washington, D.C.
The Old State Capitol — Serving as Louisiana’s state house from 1847 until 1932—except for a brief period during the Civil War—the Old State Capitol is one of the most distinguished examples of Gothic Revival architecture in the United States. Its medieval European castle-like appearance led Mark Twain to dub it “the monstrosity on the Mississippi.” It serves today as a center for political and governmental history.
The Pentagon Barracks Museum — Located on the grounds of Louisiana's State Capitol in Baton Rouge, the Pentagon Barracks was part of what was at one point the main defensive military post of the southwestern United States. Later used as dormitories for Louisiana State University, it now houses the offices for the Lieutenant Governor as well as a museum.
Port of Greater Baton Rouge — The official website for the 7th largest inland port in the nation.
Shaw Center for the Arts — This new state-of-the-art facility in downtown Baton Rouge houses not only the Manship Theater for the Performing Arts but also the LSU Museum of Art.
