Fall Field Day '98: Held October 30-November 01, 1998. Eleven (11) participants attending including six (6) former KIDD crew members. Those attending came from eight (8) different states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Michigan.

 

Activities ranged far and wide. Richard Truman (DD-661) and wife Jeanette worked with Barre McGowen (DD-686) to get Radio Central into shape and make repairs to the sound system throughout the ship. John Ellsworth (DD-591) assisted the ship's staff on depth charge preservation. Richard Ammon (DD-661), Walter De Young (DD-661), and KIDD volunteer Rick Worley (DD-576) continued restoration work in the aft fireroom. Harry

Howard (DD-210 & DD-265) and Paul Mitchell (DD-661) repaired dogs for hatches throughout the ship. Mike McGee assisted with repairs to the ship's exhaust vents. Mack Bradley (DD-661) and George Gordin (DD-661) got electricity flowing back to the vicinity of Radio Central and CIC.

 

Benjamin C. Fernandez (DDG-16 & FF-1074), wife Jo Anne, and son Ben served as the galley crew, providing meals throughout the weekend.
