Fall Field Day '96: Held October 18-20, 1996. Seven (7) participants attended from as far away as Minnesota, Michigan, Florida, and Louisiana.
Harry Pruitt (DD-798) turned on to 5"/38-cal. Gun Mount 52, preparing it for painting. John Ellsworth (DD-591) worked on stripping, painting, and restoring electrical box covers behind the pilothouse below the Mk-37 main battery gun director and in the Captain's sea cabin. Alvarez Hertzock (DD-727) gave Radio Central, Emergency Radio, and CIC a thorough cleaning. Bruce Kittredge and David Bass (DD-697) worked on restoration of the aft fireroom, cleaning and sealing thermal insulation with white mastic. Red Foster (DD-719) and Micki Bass (David's wife) assisted Ship's Superintendent Tim Rizzuto in organizing the work force and keeping tools supplied.
