Fall Field Day '96

Fall Field Day '96: Held October 18-20, 1996. Seven (7) participants attended from as far away as Minnesota, Michigan, Florida, and Louisiana.
Harry Pruitt (DD-798) turned on to 5"/38-cal. Gun Mount 52, preparing it for painting. John Ellsworth (DD-591) worked on stripping, painting, and restoring electrical box covers behind the pilothouse below the Mk-37 main battery gun director and in the Captain's sea cabin. Alvarez Hertzock (DD-727) gave Radio Central, Emergency Radio, and CIC a thorough cleaning. Bruce Kittredge and David Bass (DD-697) worked on restoration of the aft fireroom, cleaning and sealing thermal insulation with white mastic. Red Foster (DD-719) and Micki Bass (David's wife) assisted Ship's Superintendent Tim Rizzuto in organizing the work force and keeping tools supplied. |
The inaugural crew for the first Field Day aboard the USS KIDD came aboard in October of 1996. |

Saturday morning breakfast provided by Harry Pruitt. Evening meal on Friday and lunch on Saturday provided by the Club Car Cafe at the Argosy Casino. Evening meal on Saturday provided by KIDD volunteers Bill Pellerin (USAF) and Eddie Davis (DD-611). |
