Fallen Crew Members of USS KIDD (DD-661) |

|
Thirty-eight crew members were lost aboard ship on April 11, 1945, during a kamikaze attack by a Japanese aircraft against USS KIDD (DD-661). Since that time, their shipmates have gathered each year faithfully—first at a small church in Massachusetts and later aboard their former vessel here in Baton Rouge—to honor their memories.
USS KIDD shipmate Richard E. Ammon, Jr. (1959-63) has collected the photos of all but one of these 38 men, along with biographical information provided by family and friends. This has helped to put a face with each name and bring us a better understanding of each man and a better appreciation of the significance of their sacrifice. Click on the links below to read each bio as they become available.
Though many years have passed, these men are not forgotten. |
